I love to finish – Q2 revisited

Q2 finishes

Almost half way through the year and what do I have to show for it so far?

For the Finish A Long in Q2 I decided I would try and finish…

  1. Modern Medallion
  2. Quick Curve Ruler Playtime
  3. M is For
  4. Winter is Coming
  5. All of the Fandoms Steampunk Quilt
  6. The Redwork Quilt
  7. Swoon
  8. Happiness Is
  9. Yoga Shawl
  10. I shall call him George

Who was I kidding?

I managed to finish one of the things on my list, the Quick Curve Ruler Playtime, progressed the Modern Medallion and the Yoga Shawl (I took my knitting with me to China and actually managed to do a little of it at night in the motel). I have cut out some more of the All of the Fandoms Steampunk Quilt and have things ready for me to do another couple more of the Swoon blocks.

But I have also been thinking about what it is that I want to finish. I think that the redwork quilt is going to head back to the garage. After getting it out I remembered why it was that it hadn’t been progressed as far as it should have been. One of the challenges with swaps is that you don’t always get what you want from it. The work is all really good, but there were a few of them that were completed on the wrong side and that really makes a difference. So perhaps it will just go and be put out in the cold again – and wait for me to decide on its fate.

The Epic George quilt is one that I have written about here from time to time. The trouble I have is that I like my quilts to be big and complicated and generally done by hand – which doesn’t make for a lot of finishes. So I will keep George on the list just so he has some sense of priority. It isn’t like it is the redwork quilt, never destined to see the light of day.

How did your finishes go for the quarter?

And the mini at the top of the post is another of my finishes – but it wasn’t listed in the Q2 goals. It was my Winter Mug Rug Swap 2016 quilt. If there was more time in the day for me to quilt I may consider one of those in a somewhat larger format… but that day is not today. I need to know my limits.
