Ladies and Gentlemen, may please allow me to introduce you to George… the George III Coverlet by Carolyn Konig.
This is an 18 month Block of the Month and I only have two months to go on it. Having said that, I have only sewn three of the over a hundred circles, so there is quite a bit of it to go. It is the quilt that I want to finish and then buy the bed that I want to see it on (for me)… must start saving for the bed.
It is not for the feint of heart. It is not for beginners. It is challenging, and it is what I have been trying to work on for the past couple of weeks (well that and some swaps), but I just don’t seem to be able to get my head in the game, no matter how much I try.
One thing I have been contemplating with this one is to start putting the top together. I have drawn up the layout in EQ7, so that I can cross off and keep track of where I am up to. Doing this has meant that I can break the main quilt top up into nine smaller sections that can then be put together at the end, but I will still have a sense of progress and completion.
Do you have any strategies for dealing with long term projects like this one?
